WATER REFLECTING
Beneath the skin, tissues sing
ancestral fear, seizures of despair,
skeletal leaves; long dead things,
on rivers of blood, spit and care.
Breath catching stories uttering
archetypes of betrayal and death;
abandoned limbs and heart fluttering
a chaos of form, a storm ahead.
But as fluid, mist and frozen water
cut flesh with known routine –
love from touch, son from daughter,
notice the noticing now, so pristine.
Even war-hungering oceans are empty,
perfectly still as morning sky,
stillness reflecting a senseless frenzy,
still waters of life, still fragrance of “I”.
